The storyline bears a lot of promise. There were problems that could have been avoided if they spent more time putting meat in. For the first book in a series, they could have had more information about the world (ex. was it historical England? A different world entirely? I could not tell). The system of magic and how it is used needed more to it, and the characters themselves could have been further expanded. I think this is supposed to be a romance, and their romance felt flat because of this. I felt like they had a lot of knowledge about the world and the characters that didn’t make it into the book. I wish it had, because you could tell that the author was excited to write the story. I will read the next book with high hopes!

I really enjoyed this book. I am a fan of historical fiction and who doesn't love a little romance thrown into the mix? This was a perfect fit for me as a reader. I enjoyed how the author jumped straight into the action at the beginning and let me feel like I was experiencing the storyline along with the characters. Another reviewer mentioned a lack of information about the era... In my experience, historical fiction readers are able to infer the era based on the setting, character development, dialogue, political conflicts, etcetera. I found myself clearly able to define and picture the setting with an Arthurian theme and thoroughly enjoyed the author's worldbuilding as well as the character development used to push the romance along. I am looking forward to the next installment in this series!
