Good read, but not enough story for the money. I loved the alpha H, John. The h was likable as well and I didn't care for her friend who passed on too much unverified information. John was just my kind of man, rough, obsessive, controlling, possessive, and let's not forget rich. I like the way he didn't flash his money, but you could tell he had it even with the author saying it. He made this book for me. I wish there were more details in this story. I don't mean more pages of long descriptions, but things that actually happen. I feel like the whole story was maybe four or five scenes. Overall the story is good, I just longed for more engagement. It would have helped if we got to see what happened when they got to her apartment in Dallas, maybe it would have added another dimension to the story.

Sarah Surrender Ranchers of Chatum County Book 2 edition by Lynda Chance Contemporary Romance eBooks Reviews

I really liked this book, really liked it, but I felt guilty for doing so. I liked the way Sarah corrected him just as I would have liked to. At one point, she asked him who raised him and how. I especially liked that part. Good Job! As I thrilled to John Garrett's sexy maleness, I kept getting the urge to picket his ranch house, "Garrett Inappropriate With Women" or some such. John had better never run for public office. If any of this gets out, he's sunk. John Garrett is about as over the top male as it gets. Any more and some one gets hurt. I think that perhaps, John just has a slight case of testosterone poisoning, and as soon as he recovers, he'll be fine.

This is a very entertaining story. Why? John Garrett is either the biggest neanderthal-male-chauvinist-ALPHA-male on the planet....or he's just plain bi-polar. He made me very angry during many moments in this book! Yet....there is definitely something endearing and redeemable about the man. Sarah McAlister for her part is somewhat of a mouse but it's like the story about the mouse that ROARED....there are times when I half expected she had a club to brain John with....and instead clubbed him over the head with her remarks.

This book will keep you reading. Kept me reading simply because I wanted to know what stupid thing John would come up with next. There are times when his brain just stops functioning and his mouth takes over! By the end of the book though; we readers realize that he was a man deeply buried in past hurts and putting up a huge amount of attitude in order to preserve himself. Sarah very quietly took the man apart.

I did enjoy this book. The one thing I'd have hoped for a bit more of is character development. I understand however, that with the word count and size of this story; that it's hard to do much more than just tell the story and make the words count. They counted! Thank you.
Okay I love Linda chance books she writes the ultimate alpha males and John definitely is the Alpha of alpha males

He meets our girl Sarah and at that moment decides he is going to get her and not even her engagement to another man is going to stop him

Now are poor Sarah has been married to an alpha male before so she is very fearful very reluctant but she feels that strong ultimate pull and she just can't fight it

Now John has been hurt in the past and is very cynical when it comes to women now he believes women are good for one thing and one thing only and that is satisfying his sexual appetite

But when he meets Sarah he immediately knows that one time is just not enough he wants her to belong to him utterly which surprises him

And so the story goes of their up and down hill relationship her fighting him off and him fighting the feelings that are building up inside him but as always there is a happily ever after which I love

I have all of Linda chances books and can't wait for her next release for a really good alpha male romance she is the greatest author ever if you have time read all her books especially Josh and Hannah
I love Mrs. Chance books because while they are mega alpha men, the men she wrote about cared 1st about being gentlemen (like holding doors) and protecting what was theirs.
I have almost all her books because of the mega alpha men she wrote. But this book was a bit more of a forceful man than I like/ am use to. And I hated the ending. It was like the Retiring home was thrown in as an after thought.
I'm not going to love all Mrs. Chance's books but I honestly disliked this one to the max.
To get me to take the time to rate a book on here, said book has to have really made a big impression on me...either positively or negatively. And for me to give it 5 stars, it has to be one of those stories that captures and holds my attention throughout. This is one of those books. I didn't want to put it down, and when I did, I couldn't wait to get back to it. This is the second book by Lynda Chance that I have read. The first one "Staking His Claim," was another one of those "can't put it down" kind of stories, and I really didn't think Ms. Chase could top that one...but she has. If your like your men 'Alpha to the core,' then this is the book for you. The alpha in this story (John) meets Sarah for the first time at a gas station, and from that moment on, he can't get her out of his mind. He knows what he wants, and he goes after it. He's relentless in his pursuit of Sarah, and the more she tries to avoid a relationship with him, the more determined he is to have her. Sarah has been burned in love before and thinks that this time around she might be happier with a more mild-mannered type of guy. Someone 'safe' who won't make any strong emotional demands on her. John is definitely NOT that kind of man, which is why she is afraid to get involved with him. He's a hot guy, (in more ways than one), and Sarah definitely doesn't want to get too near his flame. She doesn't think she can stand to be burned again. Initially, John isn't looking for love, and neither is Sarah, but it finds them both just the same. Nothing excites me more than a stereotypical macho type guy who's just out to satisfy his basic urges, with no strings attached, and definitely no plans to fall in love. But then he does....and he never saw it comin'.
